所有各种数字输入模件在功能上都支持热备功能，它允许在线更换故障模件，或作为工作模件的后备。
和所有I/O模件一样，数字输入模件需要有一电缆连接到位於远处的外部端子板。每个模件都带有机械键锁，以避免错误安装。
